For Once, Leftists May Be Right
For decades, the American Left[1] has worked to erode Western Culture and Western Civilization. Seldom has the Left encountered an anti-America, anti-West cause behind which it wouldn't readily rally. Through a combination of propaganda[2]; infiltration and corruption of the legal system[3]; creeping Governmental intrusion into the private lives of citizens[4] and into the economy[5]; and a campaign of harassment, intimidation, coercion, persecution, and outright violence against political opponents, both actual and perceived, the Left has slowly eroded the fundamental freedoms and liberties that have, for nearly a quarter of a millennium, defined the Republic and made America unique amongst Nations. Finding themselves suddenly disempowered after so long virtually unopposed, the Left is now terrified of what an ascendant Right might do. For once, the Leftists may be right.
The election of President Donald J. Trump was nothing short of traditional America's collective declaration that they have had enough. The slavering, half-mad, hatchet-wielding fools who have gone about hacking down every institution and tradition they could find have finally roused the ire of the silent majority. For too long, Conservatives have allowed America's foundations to crumble; for too long, Leftists have gone unchecked; and for too long, a full-throated defense of the West and her Civilization have been absent. No more. The People have spoken, and they will not be denied.
From their comfortable positions of unearned privilege, undeserved prestige, and unwarranted power atop their ivory towers in academia, in media, and in Washington, D.C., the so-called "elites" of the Left have looked down upon the rest of the country and upon its People. They have referred to the vast majority of the Nation as "flyover country"; simultaneously disregarding the voices and disparaging the views of their fellow citizens. They have attempted to supplant the morality, the traditions, and the beliefs of the great, silent majority with sins and vices. They have sought to replace fidelity with promiscuity, truth and honesty with an ever-changing kaleidoscope of politically correct terminology, and Nature and Nature's God with their idolatrous shibboleths and dogmas. There has been no position too loathsome, no cause too abhorrent, and no objective too reprehensible for them to deny it their support. Their credo: That which advances the twin causes of Leftism and of globalism must be supported. If he promised an expansion of abortion 'rights', the suppression of Christianity, and a yet another Government-backed handout, the Left would make common cause with Lucifer himself.
It is in the nature of the Conservative to see the best in his opponent, to view his fellow, despite differing politics, as a travelling companion on the journey we call life. It is not in the nature of the Conservative to view the opposition as enemies, as traitors, or as anything but political opponents. This is not now, and has not in the recent past been, how the Left views the Right. To the Left, all others are enemies to be destroyed. If that destruction can be wrought with political corruption[6], so be it; if it can be wrought with economic harassment[7], so be it; if it can be wrought with legal persecution[8], so be it. Conservatives see themselves, when out of power, as the loyal opposition and view their opponents through the same lens. It is for this reason that the battle has been, for decades, so very one sided. However, the winds of change are blowing, and it is now the Right that is ascendant.
Tired of being called "racist" for referring to facts when discussing crime and law enforcement; tired of being called "sexist" for favoring millennia of tradition over caprice; tired of being called "homophobic" for daring to defend the very foundation of Civilization, marriage; tired of being called "bigoted" for refusing to cater to the preferences or to cave to the demands of special treatment for some new special, 'protected' group or class; and tired of being constantly, incessantly, continuously, unremittingly, and relentlessly harassed, intimidated, coerced, persecuted, and attacked, the Right has reasserted itself in defense of Conservatism, in defense of the Nation, and in defense of Western Civilization itself. Arrogant from their decades unopposed, the Left began to push too far and too fast, the consequences of their hubris have only just begun to manifest. Foundationless as a consequence of its rejection of all that is good and just in the world, the Left now finds itself cowering behind a mere façade, all that exists of its unobtained and unobtainable utopia; constructed upon the sand, it will fail, brick by brick, as each successive wave of righteous indignation, justified rage, and vindicative ire of the Right crashes down upon it. The end has come for the Left, and they are rightly terrified.
Where Conservatives have traditionally refused to deploy tactics one would normally reserve for enemies in war, and Leftists have fully exploited this honorable and commendable refusal by raping, pillaging, and destroying everything in their path, the new Right recognizes that the old order cannot be sustained. Honorable political combat requires honorable political opponents and a loyal opposition requires a faithful government. There may have been a time when Conservatives faced honorable, if misguided, opponents, but those days have long passed. The new, ascendant Right will not make the mistakes of its forebears, and is disinclined to limit its options in addressing the existential threat presented by the Left.
The Left declared war on its political opponents, on Society, and on Civilization decades ago. Conservatives have thus far refused to meet the Left on its own terms, to fight fire with fire. In its current hysteria, the Left betrays its dawning realization: The new Right recognizes the threat and is willing, and able, to meet it. In an existential conflict, only victory matters. The Right is finally playing to win.
And Leftists in much of the rest of the West. ↩︎
Endemic to and practically inextricable from the US media and still spreading like a cancer through academia. ↩︎
See, e.g., Miranda v. Arizona, Roe v. Wade, Lawrence v. Texas, Obergefell v. Hodges. ↩︎

There are currently somewhere around a million regulatory restrictions in the US, which cost the economy an incredible $4,000,000,000,000 per year. ↩︎
